Australian Exploration Project Hits the Target Adapted from Information by KGL Minerals Australia-based KGL Minerals recently completed a 3-D induced polarization (3DIP) and magnetotelluric (MT) survey in the Bellbird Region of its Jervois Project to search for additional zones of miner- alization. The Jervois Project, located in the Northern Territory, consists of a number of open pit and underground mines feeding a centralized flotation plant to produce a copper concentrate and a separate lead-zinc concentrate. The company’s ten-hole exploration drilling program has returned copper mineralization in all holes drilled to date. Four holes have been completed targeting a combination of chargeability and conductivity anomalies at Bellbird East. The fifth hole is in progress and has also intersected copper mineralization in reverse circulation drilling, prior to switching to diamond core drilling due to high groundwater flows. In addition to the 3DIP and MT, soil sampling continues over prospective areas. Previous sampling confirmed known min- eralization and identified several new zones such as the Wren Prospect which has narrow, continuous mineralization for more than 3200 feet. Simon Milroy, managing director said, “Targeting the anomalies identified in the recent 3DIP survey is working well so far with all holes intersecting new zones of mineralization.” RAB (rotary air blast) drilling, an economical technique used for shallow depths, is being used to test prospective areas at the northern extension of the Bellbird Trend, the Little Jay Prospect where a copper occurrence has been exposed by trenching, and the southern extension of Green Parrot which is ob- scured by alluvium.
