More Than Just Another Small Rig! Adapted from Information by Webber Construction and Fabrication The Aqua Bore-G2 Pro Ser es was born from the need for sma portab e and powerfu dr r gs des gned to transport nto remote o- cat ons. Des gner and fabr cator Gray Webber came from over 30 years of ndustr a educat on, as we as genera and mechan ca contract ng. Mot vated by the numerous remote camps (most often w thout potab e water) found n h s area of the country, he began h s des gn focused on a s mp e r g wh ch cou d address the remote-s te market. Dur ng the research and deve opment (R&D) stage, Webber qu ck y rea zed the r g had to have the same profess ona features and durab ty dr operators expect. “Th s r g cannot be a one-use-a-month un t,” Webber re ated. “I dec ded to use common y ava ab e components ke o d-schoo hydrau cs and off-the-she f parts to keep cost and ma ntenance ow and yet bu d n power and features a ow ng for everyday profess ona use of the mach ne.” He p aced the components on a robust stand-a one 2x4 tubu ar frame wh ch can be sk d mounted n the box of a ¾-ton p ckup truck or carr ed on ax es. Th s system prov des up to 850 ft bs of torque at 160 rpms and a push/ pu ho st rat ng of 8500 bs, enough to power tr cones and PDCs through tough rock format ons. It a so re- ce ves a true o f e d centr fuga mud pump fromODr /MCM, Inc. The 118-ser es pump s powered by a 22-, 28-, or 35-horsepower com- merc a eng ne a ow ng for up to 240 ga ons per mnute and 140 ps mud f ow. W th a chrome mo y sw ve core, the fu f ow sw ve uses mu t -v-sea s supported by a set of 14,000-pound thrust bear ngs. Dur ng the two years of R&D, Webber bu t f ve prototypes before sett ng on the product on des gn he now offers. “I researched the most common y expected features that profess ona s want on r gs and when poss b e, I des gned ke features and systems nto the Aqua Bore.” Wh e the Aqua Bore was or g na y conce ved for remote dr ng, Webber qu ck y recogn zed that f done cor- rect y, t cou d be used for geosamp ng, pavement core samp ng, geotherma dr ng, and mon tor ng we s. Accord ng to Webber, w th a ¾-ton p ckup, one man can transport everyth ng needed to dr , case, and de- ve op a 150-foot we . “That s t, just one sma truck w th water tank and supp es, and you have what you need to comp ete most we s,” Webber stated. “Okay, t s not a b g, h gh-product on r g, but you can comp ete a we n one day, every day, and then park th s for the w nter and not ose s eep over mak ng payments... The pros that have used th s r g have been p eased w th ts bu d, power, and features. That g ves me great pr de n the des gn.” The WWDR camera got a close look at the Aqua Bore-G2 during the 2016 Minnesota Water Well Association Convention and Trade Show. 18 APRIL 2016 WorldWide Drilling Resource ®
