Did You Know Harry W. Short? I mean, really know Harry? by Veronica I. “Ronnie” Jones Managing Publisher Many of you have enjoyed the Mining Section Articles written by our Contributing Writer Harry W. Short, engineering geologist for many years now. This publisher feels very honored to have enjoyed his friendship since the late 90s, when I met Harry at the John Ascuaga’s Nugget in Sparks, Nevada, during a California Groundwater Trade Event. His booth was positioned right next to mine. Fate made its way that day and blessed me with a newfound long-time friend, Harry and of course his wife Delores. It is with sadness in my heart, I must report he lost his life after a long health battle. There will be a celebration of life, as Harry did not want anyone dwelling on his passing. The details will be in an upcoming issue of WorldWide Drilling Resource ® . What you may not know is Harry was not only a famed contributing writer and engineering geologist, but he was one of the best photographers I have ever known. We wanted to share some of those photos he sent to us to enjoy here at WWDR . Lest we forget... And so, a small tribute to such a BIG MAN in so many lives is now in the Garden of the Gods.
