Ever wonder where all the years have gone? I have. I don't care if you are 35 or 80, the story is the same, the years pass quickly by. It seems like yesterday I was catching my five-year-old daughter as she kept jumping into the community pool. A few years ago, one of my grand daughters took her place. Now even she is too big and old for me to continue to play that role. I miss it. Those were the days filled with laughter, smiles, fun, and the wonder of watching her grow up. Where have they gone? Why did they fly by? It seems like yesterday I was playing football on my high school team waving to my girlfriend as she and her cheerleading squad cheered us on in the last game of the season. In the stands were my parents and younger brother. Oh, how time speeds by. My parents both passed away several years ago. My younger brother just turned 60, and I don't know if any of my former teammates are even still alive. last year, I lost several good friends and it was much too early for them to leave. Our life, whether it's 40, 60, or even 90 years is like a blip on the clock of the universe. I love the line - “We are here for a little while and then we are gone forever.” Forever. Now I'm not referring here to what happens when we leave here, just that while we are here life is short, and the end comes before most of us are ready or willing to say goodbye. Too many people live as if they have forever, and it doesn't matter if they put off things off like: 2 Sending that special note to someone. 2 Saying thank-you to someone. 2 Forgiving someone. 2 A new beginning. 2 Telling someone you love them. 2 Saying you are sorry. 2 Starting over. 2 letting go of something. 2 Acting like a kid again. 2 Asking those important questions of your parents or friends before it's too late. 2 laughing until it hurts. I recently watched the Bucket List movie with Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson (for a second time). I just love them both as actors, and together they were magical. I have to admit I cried on several occasions during the movie; not for them, but for me and what was left to do during my life and not knowing how much time I actually have to do it all. If you like either of them, I recommend you rent it, but have some Kleenex handy. Granted, some people live life to the fullest every day, but I'm guessing they are in the minority. For most of us, I believe there will be a lot of unfinished business before we check out of here. Why wait? I don't care how young or old you are, if you have a lot to do on your bucket list - get started. life is short. It's never too late, and you are never too old or young to embrace the adventure of life no matter what it may be for you and what's next. Consider the tremendous value of life as you have it - and I'm not referring to your wealth, status, fame, or position. Just take a few minutes to say thank-you. Reach for the stars, dream big, and don't let anything or anyone get in your way.
