If it doesn’t, it can’t. Let’s drill down a little deeper. The very word integrity comes from the Latin word integer, meaning whole or complete. As it applies to people and their behavior, the concept of integrity implies an inner sense of completeness from which qualities such as honesty, a consistent character, and dependable actions come forth. Each day (many more times than we can possibly be aware of), we judge people and things as to whether or not they have integrity. We judge based on how they perform according to the values, expectations, and qualities which they put forth. Integrity can be found in all walks of life - in science, medicine, engineering, education, drilling, and most especially insurance. The insurance industry throughout history has been entirely based upon a framework of principles and trust. As such, insurance professionals generally possess fairly high levels of personal integrity to act consistently within this framework of ethics and principles. The reality is always “how effectively is insurance applied or integrated into the real world?” That is, your world. The integrity of your insurance policy’s design (not necessarily the character of the agent himself) is best judged by the results and performance after a “bad day”. Like a well-engineered structure or machine that integrates its components to perfection, an insurance policy designed with integrity may ultimately help you keep your business and maintain your quality of life after a bad day. How? By making you or an injured party whole again. By protecting and defending you in ways you can’t yourself. An insurance policy designed with integrity will fulfill expectations, promises, and respond with qualities of consistency and dependability via what’s specified in the policy. THIS, is insurance policy integrity. When purposefully designed with knowledge (to the end of integrity performance within itself), the insurance policy adds value for you and all parties involved - including the insurance company standing behind it. Certainly you’ll have more confidence in something you probably spend a lot of money for each year. I personally review dozens of insurance policies each year. Some complicated, some not. I design, build, and often rebuild faulty insurance policies completely, for drilling professionals of all types. I design the “performance of integrity” into them through knowledge, structure, relationships, and experience derived from hundreds of clients within the drilling and water well industries. Because in the end, you and I both must ask, “Do the results match my expectations? Do they match yours?” If they do and integrity and confidence exists, then there can’t be a failure of design, implementation, knowledge, or lack of integrity within the policy itself. Of course, the ultimate question for you and me: “Is my policy designed with integrity to hold water on a bad day?” Kyle Kyle Rehme may be contacted via e-mail to michele@worldwidedrillingresource.com Kyle Rehme uses his personal knowledge of the water well, drilling, and environmental in- dustries to provide cus- tomers with practical insurance solutions.
