Ronnie’s Real World Answer to Page 6 Quest on . . . D d you guess correct y? None other than our f rst Ed tor, Mary Ann Pe et er. Ask ng about the campa gn hat? We , th s has been a wh r w nd year a the way around. Not on y do we have a great dea to do here at WWDR , yours tru y dec ded, w th a tt e coach ng from Mary Ann and remembrances from her husband Ed, to run aga n for County Comm ss oner of Wash ngton County s D str ct 3. So th s photo was taken dur ng the F recracker Parade n Vernon a coup e of months ago. As you can see, we were show ng off our WWDR Sm es! Mary Ann s wear ng that hat because she s my Campa gn Manager, and a darned good one at that. So, you ask, how d d I do? I succeeded n ensur ng I w be here for you. I m not a po t c an and those are the on y ones who w n those races. Actua y, I ove what I am do ng r ght here at WWDR , or on the road - at home - or wherever I may be for the good of the dr ng ndustry. Just thought I d reassure you, I m not go ng anywhere. And among other th ngs, wh e tak ng my husband s Chow m x (Redda) to the veter nar an s off ce for a groom ng, s nce t s been so very hot and she suffers w th the heat at 16 years of age, I opened the hatch to the Suburban w th that n ce button and wham, she was off ke a f ash! Now keep ng n m nd her age, the fact she s deaf, and ha f b nd, one wou d have thought she cou dn t run. Th nk aga n! As I turned to grab her, I fe on the aspha t/grave roadway on my hands and knees, jamm ng my eft shou der. But up I got w th the he p of a good samar tan, ho d ng my arm as I ran after her. Across downtown Ch p ey, F or da, over green parks, ra - roads, streets, wooded areas we went. There w th me was the groomer, Buster, from Ch p ey An ma Hosp ta , and an unknown man who were try ng d gent y to catch her. I was to d to go to the next road n my Suburban as she was headed that way and toward H ghway 90 (a very busy h ghway that runs across the top of F or da). I stopped on the ra road tracks w th f ashers go ng, w th my O V RO CA V TE E NI and WorldWide Drilling Resource ® s gns on, and gett ng out I saw a po ceman com ng toward me. I m sure he was confused w th my hands b eed ng and me ho d ng my arm. I asked h m to p ease be sure Redda d d not get to the h ghway as I sure y d d not want anyone hurt or k ed because of her. He d d very qu ck y. Then here comes Redda w th the two men on her hea s. As she came across a backyard, I ho ered at them to jump on her f she got near them add ng, “She won t b te”. They weren t too sure about that - but, as Redda came c oser I pounced on her and Buster got a rope ead around her neck. Yes Redda was f ne and my son, Troy, who I had ca ed cry ng so hyster ca y he cou dn t understand me, came f y ng up and took me mmed ate y to the oca hosp ta . A the way, Troy joked, A s truck wou dn t go but 100 m es an hour, and the cop d dn t even try to he p h m, just kept go ng. Too funny! So severa hours ater, X-rays taken, a tt e c eaned up, no bones broken, but suggested I see an orthopaed c doctor for my r ght knee (poss b e Man scus tear), and eft shou der probab y a tear there as we . Mar e, my daughter- n- aw, made the ca and got the appo ntment and yup I was asked wh ch hurt worse, my knee or my shou der? The shou der won and no wonder - rotor cuff tear, b cep tear, and someth ng e se. So surgery t was and I wr te th s from home, the surgery s over n the shou der. Wear ng the s ng w th the p ow th ng you see peop e w th for 4-6 weeks, then 4-6 months phys ca therapy and rehab. Then we w ook at the knee. As for Redda? She s beaut fu , oves her ha rdo, and acts ke she s a two-year o d! Me? No trave for a wh e, wh ch rea y upsets me, but we have great peop e who are eager to v s t w th you as much as I am.
