In Memoriam George G. Goble (1929~2017) George G. Goble, Ph.D., P.E., Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) charter member and recipient of DFI's 1995 Distinguished Service Award, passed away on September 19, 2017, shortly after his 88th birthday. Dr. Goble was a civil/structural engineer, entrepreneur, researcher, professor, and consultant. He received his bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Idaho, and studied civil/structural engineering at the University of Washington. He also studied at the University of Stuttgart in Germany, on a Fulbright schol- arship. He was professor and then chair of the departments of civil engineering, first at Case Western Reserve University and later at the University of Colorado Boulder. During his university career, he started and participated in several businesses, prin- cipally Goble Rausche Likens in Cleveland, Ohio; and Bridge Diagnostics in Boulder, Colorado. George is survived by his wife Christine; children Tanya and Gregory; grandson Gavin; stepchildren Curtis (Laurie) and Jennifer (Stephen); and stepgrandchildren Emma, Georgia, and Paula. William Charles “Bill” Sebastian (1945~2017) The Michigan Ground Water Association sadly announced the passing of William Charles “Bill” Sebastian on November 2, 2017, at the age of 72. Bill was presented with an Honorary Life Membership from the association in 2015, to celebrate his years of devoted service to the groundwa- ter industry. He began in the well drilling field at the age of 17, working for Leonard Well Drilling, then Motor Wheel, and Standard Owens Petroleum before he and his family started the Sebastian Well Drilling Company. He was very handy and could fix anything. Bill is survived by his wife of 52 years Tina; sons Chuck (Anjala), Nay, and Tony (Stacy); grandchildren Rachelle, Austin, Ashly (John), Cody, Jordan, Myra, Emily, Shandra (Keith), and Jacob; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers Tom (Marlene) and Charles “Buddy” (Debra); and sisters Linda and Kathy.
