Atlas Copco Opens U.S. Manufacturing Plant Atlas Copco announced the invest- ment of $25 mi l l ion in a brand new 197,000-square-foot factory in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The plant will manufac- ture portable compressors and gener- ators for the construction market, as well as medical gas products for hospi- tals. “This state-of-the-art factory will im- prove our production capabilities, en- hancing productivity for our customers in North America,” said Andrew Walker, president of the construction technique business area. To meet growing customer demand for high-quality equipment and support, Atlas Copco moved operations from another facility in Rock Hill to this new building, which achieved a Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) certification. The LEED build- ing incorporates lean manufacturing, enabling efficient and flexible processes which are especially productive and environmentally sustainable. Some 330 employees will work at the facility, which includes the U.S. customer center. Ribbon-cutting grand opening ceremony on May 17, 2017.
