Through the Back Door! by Jim Kuebelbeck unbelievable Part 1 Just about the time I think I've experienced every imaginable situation as a water dowser, I am brought back to reality with the quirks of human nature. Recently, we received a call from the owner of a small dairy farm in central Minnesota. He said he was in dire need of a better water supply, not only for his cattle, but his home as well. He had read a news article about our successful water locating on a piece of property where numerous dry holes had been drilled previously, and asked if we would attempt to locate a good water supply on his farm property also. He then proceeded to tell me he had drilled numerous dry holes on his property in the past. His present deep well produced only about a gallon per minute, and for the past six years he and his wife continually had to ration their water usage. They couldn't take a shower or run the dishwater in the house unless they first shut off the water to his dairy barn (which I assumed must have had a large storage tank). I gave him my usual speech about my not being God, and could only give him my best judgment using my dowsing methods. He then said to me, “If you come out here, this will be the biggest challenge of your life, because I've already drilled all over this farm.” I told him I'd do my best to try to help him, but I could only locate a good water source if God had already put it there. After arriving at his property a few days later, I did manage to locate what I thought was a promising drilling site. It happened to be right in his farm yard, about 100 feet from his dairy barn. About a week later, I received a message on our answering machine telling me the drilling contractor had encountered a water sup- ply which produced 15 gallons per minute! Once again, Carol and I were totally pleased to have helped another desper- ate landowner. A few hours later, I received a call from the owner's wife who asked me what I thought of a 15-gallon-a-minute water well. I told her in situations such as theirs, this was a great well, and they would no longer have to worry about running out of water. “Oh, just a minute,” she said, “Henry just walked into the house and wants to talk to you.” Thinking I would receive nothing but thanks and more thanks, I said hello to “Henry”. Instead of thanks, however, what I heard was more than shocking. “Jim,” he said, “I wasted my money on both you and the [drilling contractor]!” I thought surely he was kidding, and didn't quite know what to say, but then he continued by saying, “I hired you to get me 25 gallons a minute and you didn't do that.” [Look for the rest of the conver- sation next month.] The statements and comments in this article are based on information and ref- erences believed to be true and factual.
