Aging and Making Decisions by Tim Connor Welcome to the real world of getting old. You know, there is a difference between getting old and growing old. We all age - it's life - but none of us has to grow old. We can hold onto the outlook, spirit, and attitudes of our younger years and our youth. Youth is not a time, but a state of mind. I know a great many people in their 20s and 30s who are old beyond their years, and I have also had the good fortune to know many people in their 80s and 90s with a youthful spirit and love for every moment. Many people today are spending thousands of dollars to turn back the clock. Good luck! Can't be done. As one of life's senior citizens, I realize I don't have the same energy, stamina, or strength I did 30 or 40 years ago, but I do have the wisdom and understanding of all of those years due to mistakes in judgment and lessons learned. Every moment of our lives we make decisions. Some of these are life-changing, while others seem insignificant at the time. All choices lead to consequences. Some of these are positive, and some are negative. We always have options and choices. We may not like some of them, but we do always have them. The choices we are given present us with the opportunity to move steadily in the direction of a better way of life as we move toward our destiny. If we choose wisely, we move smoothly toward this destination. If we choose poorly, we are guided back to the correct path. Each of us is responsible for the quality of our life. To point the finger at anyone other than yourself for your life's outcomes is to live in frustration and denial. Each of us is free to choose any path. So today, choose wisely, for tomorrow's harvest is planted today. What consequences are you paying today as a result of past choices? If you could go back in time with what you know now, would you have made different choices? If so, what would you have wanted the new outcome to be? It is interesting to note, people who are happy, understand they made the best choices they could at the time, with the in- formation, experience, and insight available to them. When asked: “If you could live your life over, what would you do differ- ently?” The response is almost always: “Nothing.” In His service, Tim To receive Tim’s weekly FREE motivational booster articles, contact him at www.timconnor.com with “please add me to your free booster e-mail subscriber list” in the subject line.
