Eddie and his wife Linda, also retiring as community relations coordinator at Haile, have relocated to the Chattanooga, Tennessee, area near their sons and their families. Eddie began his drilling career in 1968, as a core drill helper employed by the Longyear Co. (later Boart Longyear). He soon was promoted to drill operator, later to runner foreman, and for a short while, drilling super- visor, before he went back as a runner foreman. He continued to work with Boart Longyear, retiring as runner foreman in 2007. During his 39 years with Longyear Company, Eddie drilled projects for miner- al exploration, fossil fuels, and industrial minerals with projects in 19 states. Following his tenure with Longyear Co./Boart Longyear, he was employed by Romarco Minerals which was later purchased by Oceana Gold, in 2015. Eddie and Linda relocated from their home in the Cookeville, Tennessee, to Kershaw, South Carolina. While working as drill supervisor, and later drill superintendent, Romarco/Oceana Gold’s Haile Gold Mine assembled a fleet of four deep hole core drills, two high-capacity air rotary machines, support equipment, and tooling with Eddie’s expertise and leadership. Eddie’s integrity, expertise, perseverance, drilling experience, efficiency, and personality will be missed by his coworkers and in the drilling field. We wish Eddie and Linda the very best in their retirement and thank Joe for sharing this with our drilling industry. 45 WorldWide Drilling Resource ® OCTOBER 2017
