Employees Recognized for Dedication to Safety Adapted from a News Release by Crux Subsurface, Inc. Earlier this year, geotechnical firm Crux Subsurface, Inc. celebrated 365 days without a recordable safety incident. This is the second time in three years employ- ees have reached this benchmark, following a 702-day stretch in 2016. The com- mitment to safe operations has been recognized across the industry, earning Crux awards from both the International Association of Foundation Drilling (ADSC-IAFD) and the Inland Northwest Associated General Contractors (NWAGC). “We’re proud and excited for everyone in the organization whose hard work helped Crux achieve these accolades. We plan to continue our focus on the health and safety of our greatest assets - our people,” stated Jackson Menke, safety director for the company. “These awards truly belong to our people in our shops and in the field, and I want to thank them for their dedication.” Recipients of the NWAGC Excellence in Safety Award must have completed 365 days recordable-incident free, have an incident rate of zero, and an active safety plan which includes training, program innovation, and management commit- ment. The ADSC-IAFD Safety Award recognizes companies possessing proactive and dynamic safety programs which prevent injuries and accidents throughout the year. The award is presented to companies who have completed 365 days without a recordable incident and indicator statistics below the industry average. 48 OCTOBER 2017 WorldWide Drilling Resource ® About Shakti Pumps http://www.shaktipumps.us/aboutus.php Call Ashish Rathi, National Sales Manager, Shakti Pumps USA LLC 602-327-4306 E-mail ashish@shaktipumps.com Have you been caught in a pickle? SOLAR ECLIPSE Quick view option? Our MacGyver submitted this photo of this year’s solar eclipse as seen through his welding helmet. We think it’s cool. Your thoughts? MacGyver’s Way . . . This month is sponsored by Shakti Pumps uSA LLC Have you ever been on a job and the truck won’t crank, or the starter acts like it is dragging? Well, wewere on a job and sure enough the guys had been neglecting the fact the battery terminals were loose. So, when we tried to leave . . . yep, you guessed it - truck wouldn’t crank. Once we looked at the terminal, it had burn marks and craters in the lead. We took a small piece of copper pipe (½-inch), and cut a section out of it (no longer than 1-inch in length). Cut a kerf (a line) down the pipe so when the copper is put around the terminal, it will squeeze down onto the terminal, filling in the space you have lost due to cleaning the termi- nals. This is a quick fix and will last a long time. Submitted by Teddy Bear Timber Corporation
