In Memoriam William McKinley “Bill” Thacker, Jr. (1924~2018) The Texas Alliance of Energy Producers lost longtime member William McKinley “Bill” Thacker, Jr. on September 6, 2018. Bill was born in Austin, Texas, and went to Wichita Falls High School. His college career was briefly in- terrupted by WWII, but he eventually graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor of business administration degree, followed by a law degree. The same year he was admitted to the Bar, he began his law career as an assistant district attorney for Wichita County. He married Jan in 1953, and they enjoyed 49 years together until she passed away in 2002. Also in 1953, Bill was invited to join Fain and McGaha, a gas and oil exploration, production, and operating company. In 1990, he joined his son Ty in the development of 3-T Exploration, Inc., serving as general counsel until his death. In 2005, he married his friend Pat. During his life, he was the president of the North Texas Oil and Gas Association, vice president of the Texas Oil and Gas Association, and was active in the Boys Scouts. Bill is survived by his wife Pat; sons Billy, Ty (Keri), and Jeff; stepson David (Kristi); five grandchildren Thomas (Mary Alex), Sadie, Kagen (Parker), Olivia, and McKinley; and one great-grandchild Tydings. Vernon Carl “Vern” Hedquist (1958~2018) WSB &Associates, Inc. is mourning the loss of employee Vernon Carl “Vern” Hedquist, 59, who was fatally struck while performing geotechnical evaluations on an interstate highway in Minnesota, on October 2, 2018. Born in 1958, Vern married Cindy in 1984. He began his career at WSB in 2014. Prior to that, he was employed at the Minnesota Department of Transportation (DOT) since 1991. He was working as part of a team collecting data for an upcoming DOT project when the accident occurred. He enjoyed deer and pheasant hunting, four-wheeling, and family get-togethers. Vern is survived by wife Cindy; four-legged kids Hannah, Sadie, and Buddy; his parents; sister Linda (Ben); brother Kevin (Terri); and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
