The history of SEMCO is a long one. SEMCO built its first hydraulic pump hoist in 1969. John’s dad actually manufactured a few well trucks during his time. Some of the earlier pump hoists are still working. “Every now and again, we’ll get a call about questions, and when we hear what serial number the customer has, it is always a little bit of a surprise to hear it is still out in the field operating,” said John. Since then, lots of changes have been made with engineering. SEMCO has a simple design which makes operating and servicing easy for their customers. This makes it easy to understand why the older pump hoists are still running out there. With proper maintenance, the SEMCO Pump Hoist is built to last. In fact, the pump hoist will outlast the vehicle it is mounted on. John goes on to say, “We have cus- tomers bring in new trucks and we move their pump hoist over from one truck to the other.” FAST FORWARD - - 2018 - - The high demand for a bigger pump hoist is what really moved the company to put this in motion as they began early in 2018, working on putting together a larger SEMCO Pump Hoist. “The first S35,000 was actually built this August and went fast. It was shipped to Santiago, Chile, to a good customer of ours, Geotec Boyles Bros,” said John. “They approached us in June of 2018, and they were excited to hear we had come out with a larger pump hoist. Their pump hoist shipped in September and is by now in Chile. We will have another S35,000 debuting during Groundwater Week in Las Vegas this year. We are excited to have this new hoist mounted on a new 2019 Western Star 4700. We partnered with Western Star to debut the new pump hoist as this is an exciting new production for us.” Be sure to stop by their fantastic exhibit of this HUGE S35,000 Pump Hoist in space #701, during Groundwater Week in Las Vegas. Visit with John, Susan, and the rest of SEMCO while they explain its advantages. Then John says, “Let us knowwhat you think.” John and Susan Sutphin look happily to the future of SEMCO of Lamar. S35,000 Basic Rig Consists of a 40’ telescoping mast and 140’ per minute line speed at 35,000# single line.
