Geological Modeling Software Gets Update Adapted from a Press Release by Seequent The latest geological modeling released by Seequent (formerly known as ARANZ Geo), Leapfrog Geothermal 3.4, is a purpose-built 3-D geothermal modeling solution which integrates leading reservoir engineering and geophysical software. Shaun Maloney, managing director of Seequent said, “Our continued focus on the geothermal market reflects our com- mitment to earth, environmental, and energy projects around the world. By bringing the best integrated 3-D geological modeling solution to the geothermal industry, we are helping ensure valuable natural resources are managed efficiently and maintained for future generations.” Leapfrog Geothermal software is used by half of the top 12 geothermal operators, with users in Iceland, East Africa, USA, Mexico, and across Asia Pacific. One of those operators is New Zealand-based Contact Energy. The company’s Reservoir Strategy Manager Warren Mannington said, “The ongoing development of Leapfrog Geothermal continues to match our business needs. Contact Energy uses Leapfrog Geothermal as our primary 3-D visualization tool and it greatly adds to our understanding of the geothermal system. We have worked closely with [Seequent] and they are in tune with the requirements of the geothermal community. Their development program continues to add valuable functionality that gives us greater insight or improves workflow. In particular the new time dependent function for numeric data will be a very useful addition for our reservoir management. We currently visualize our microseismic data in Leapfrog, however the new release will improve our workflows and release the dataset’s full potential in 4-D.” Leapfrog Geothermal is a workflow-based solution using embedded modeling to build surfaces directly from data while sub- surface professionals use their skill and interpretation to guide the process. Leapfrog Geothermal 3.4 new features include support for IDW (inverse distance weighted) isosurfacing (similar to 3-D pictures) of geophysical gridded data and improvements to the TOUGH2 workflow. The release enhances major features introduced in 3.3 including time-based visualisation of geophysical point data, the new geophysical data folder, and further develops interaction with model management platform Leapfrog Central. Employees Make a Difference with Denim Days for Puerto Rico’s Aid Adapted from a Press Release by Water-Right ® Group The 2017 Atlantic hurricane season devastated Puerto Rico. The natural disas- ters directly affected customers, family, and friends of Water-Right ® , and the company wanted to help. They came up with a rather creative way to get their employees to donate toward efforts to help repair the physical damage left by the hurricane and assist residents in getting back to normal life. Water-Right's "Denim Days for Puerto Rico's Aid" campaign ran through the month of November. During this time, employees could pay $2 per day to wear jeans during the week, instead of the typical dress code attire, and the company would match all contributions. The fundraiser received a strong response from employ- ees who wanted to contribute to a good cause, and they managed to raise over $1200. With Water-Right's matched funds, the company has donated $3500 to Puerto Rico no Está Apaga’o Nuestra Luz Es Más Fuerte (Our Light Is Stronger, Puerto Rico Is Not Spi r i t less) . The char i ty organization, run by comedian Molusco, has a goal of bringing assistance wher- ever it is needed. Molusco is also doing a U.S. tour and donating all profits to the charity. Water-Right said it is proud to sup- port the needs of those recovering from the hurricane disasters. They hope their humble contribution can inspire others to do what they can, no matter how big or small. 43 WorldWide Drilling Resource ® FEBRUARY 2018
