The “Idiots” Corner by “Billy Bob Smith” Miracles When I refer to miracles in this article, I’m not talking about spiritual activities but everyday life events most people are not aware of that when you consider them - how else can you describe them other than amazing miracles? Here are just a few to consider as you begin another year of life you were given. Idiots take stuff for granted every minute of every day. Guilty? Monarch Butterfly - The annual migration of North America’s monarch butterfly is a unique and amaz- ing phenomenon. The monarch is the only butterfly known to make a two-way migration as birds do. Unlike other butter- flies which can winter as larvae, pupae, or even as adults in some species, monarchs cannot survive the cold winters of northern climates. Using environmental cues, the monarchs know when it is time to travel south for the winter, using a combination of air currents and thermals to travel long distances. Some fly as far as 3000 miles to reach their winter home! Wildebeest Migration - The Wildebeest Migration is one of the “Seven New Wonders of the World” and also known as The World Cup of Wildlife. If there is a safari you should go on, this has it be it. The Maasai Mara and the Serengeti National Park together form what no other reserve or park in Africa can. It is incredible, it is magical, it is indescribable and it is a must! No where in the world is there a movement of animals as immense as the wildebeest migration. Over two million animals migrate from the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, to the greener pastures of the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya during July through to October. Want a few more? You get over 2,500,000 heartbeats every month. Try multiplying this by 60 or 70 years! You get over 45,000 breaths every day. Do the math, dude! People still like us even though we do stupid stuff. You drive like an idiot and still make it to your destination alive. You eat and drink nothing but crap every day, but you are still here years later. As you begin this year, why not keep a daily Miracle Journal for 30 days? Just write down everything in your life you feel is a miracle. If you don’t fill it up in just a few weeks, I’ll guarantee you are taking a great deal for granted. Have a super 2018!
