Diamondback Rig Heads to JUBILEE Adapted from a Press Release by Epiroc Epiroc will make its South Atlantic JUBILEE brand debut and highlight the Diamondback drilling rig at the trade show July 28-30, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The new brand was born of the Mining and Rock Excavation Technique business area and the Hydraulic Attachment Tools division of Atlas Copco. The name Epiroc comes from Greek and Latin roots meaning “at the rock,” reflecting the brand’s newly dedicated industry focus, proximity to customers, and strength of relationships. “Epiroc was formed to better serve our customers,” said Tom Moffitt, business line manager - deephole at Epiroc. “Becoming Epiroc allows us to build on the proven quality and expertise of Atlas Copco while narrowing our focus. That means providing our customers with more support and more equipment that enhances productivity, energy efficiency, safety, and ergonomics.” Drilling professionals can get the rig they need faster, and experience enhanced safety features with the Epiroc Diamondback drilling rig. The rig’s modular components - a new con- cept in rig design - shorten lead time, while making it a truly multipurpose rig. Safety enhance- ments include features and options such as enlarged operator and helper stands, as well as catwalks which meet or exceed industry safety standards. Powered by the truck’s 600-horsepower engine, drilling operations of the Diamondback are PTO-driven, like the Epiroc TH60. An optional deck engine module is available for those who prefer a separate engine for drilling operations. The first series of Diamondback rigs was introduced in the 40,000- pound pullback class. Pulldown is rated at 30,000 pounds. Additional pull- back options will be available in the future. Customers specify air and mud package, rod carousel or box, auto- mated rod handling systems (or none), rotary head type, spindle size, 34- or 38-foot tubular tower, and carrier-mounted or tower-mounted table. Three tables are available, offering a 24-inch, 17-inch, or 10¾-inch opening. Built on a 600-horsepower Peterbilt carrier, the Diamondback features a tubular tower. The weight-to-strength ratio is superior to lattice towers, with an open design that leaves plenty of room at the deck to weld casing or work around pipe. “The Diamondback drill rig offers our partners a platform to do more,” Moffitt said. “The modular design means Diamondback owners will be able to reconfigure their rig in response to changes in market opportunities without makeshift fabrications or having to purchase another rig. It’s a flexible solution designed to enhance customer productivity and profitability.” Be sure to visit them at booth 1001 and let them know you read about it in WorldWide Drilling Resource ® . 40 JULY 2018 WorldWide Drilling Resource ® Open the Doorway to all the Event Photos during the Tennessee Water Well Association 2018 Meeting & Trade Show.
