In Memoriam Harry Paul Kleiman (1937~2018) Harry Paul Kleiman of Iron Mountain, Michigan, passed away April 30, 2018, with his family gathered around him. Born in 1937, in Kingsford, Harry was one of six children and a lifelong resident of the area. After high school, he went to Michigan Tech University, graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering. While serving duty in the Michigan National Guard, he married Kristen in 1966. Harry’s father began Kleiman Pump & Well Drilling in 1946. Harry worked alongside his dad until 1961, when he assumed ownership. Over the next 50 plus years, Harry grew and developed the company. It was well-known and accepted he never truly retired from the water industry and its people. His desire was to provide clean, safe water to all his customers whether they were a homeowner, farmer, municipality, local industry, or mining operation. He was actively involved with the Michigan Water Well Advisory Board to the Governor, Michigan Department of Public Health Committee, American Water Works Association, National Ground Water Association, Society of Mining Engineers of American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers, Engineering Ministries International, Wisconsin Water Well Association, and Michigan Ground Water Association - where he was honored with the Michigan Water Well Driller of the Year award in 1996. He was a people person who never met a stranger, and was always glad to lend a helping hand when it was needed. His most important accomplishment and legacy in life was his family. Vacations, saunas, backyard fires, winter evenings by the fireplace, and hunting morel mushrooms in the woods were activities he looked forward to. Back scratching, head rubs, hugs and kisses, and trips to the root beer stand were some precious memories with his grandchildren. Harry is survived by his wife Kristen; children Lynne (John), Erik (Sara), and Kimberly (Brett); and grandchildren Amanda, Jürgen, Anja, Jäeger, Liam, Sada, Iona, and Méav. Jerry Travis The New Jersey Ground Water Association sadly informed of the April 1, 2018, passing of Jerry Travis, longtime resident of Pennington, New Jersey. He was the journeyman water well drilling professional of Walter P. Travis, Inc. for over 63 years, having taken over the family business started by his father in 1923. He was proud to bring “the liquid of life” as he called it, to businesses, communities, and families in the greater New Jersey and eastern P e n n s y l v a n i a region. Jerry was a giant in the water well and pump industry, and wi l l be sorely missed by all those who had business and friendly ties with him in his profession, as well as the many people he served in the community at large. An avid sportsman, he developed a touch footbal l league in Hopewel l Township, and a tackle football team for high school students when no team existed at Hopewel l Val ley High. He also coached baseball. He loved to salt- water fish, play golf, and hunt smal l game and deer. Jerry was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and wife of 60 years, Lois; and is survived by his sons Dale and Brad who will continue to run the family business. The management and staff of WWDR express their sympathies to Harry and Jerry’s family and friends. Lest we forget... 48 JULY 2018 WorldWide Drilling Resource ®
