WorldWide Drilling Resource

by Tim Rasmussen This is the time of year when things begin to move at a faster pace in the Bartholomew shop. The gathering of material, tools, and equipment has been slowly going on for several months, but now Gary is busy every day checking things off the long list of needed and nec- essary items. The communications between Gary and Jon Hansen are nearly daily. Water For Life is working toward certification with the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA). This is an American financial standards associa- tion with over 2200 members nationwide. Members of ECFA are organizations which have demonstrated high financial standards. We are obtaining an independent audit to submit with our application. At this writing, I am preparing for a trip to Guatemala to meet with our accountant there to prepare for the importation of the rotary drilling rig. There are documents I must sign regarding the relationship between Water For Life in the USA and our Guatemala corporation, Agua Para la Vida. The rigs will be import- ed in the name of Water For Life so far as I know, but it is kind of a mov- ing target. Anyhow, Berny says I must come, so I am getting my tickets and reservations. One of the big items on the list was our supply of hand pumps. Gary ordered 12 of the 11HD hand pumps from Baker Manufacturing Co. This is about what we usually use each year, and is a big expense item for us. In response to the order, Doug Van Fossen called and said Baker would donate the 12 pumps! He shipped them to Mitchell Lewis & Staver company in Spokane, Washington, for us to pick up. This is a huge item to check off the list. These pumps will go to work in remote areas of Guatemala, bringing clean water to the surface for people who have very little. Many, many thanks to them for their generosity. These wonderful gifts are a big encouragement for all of us. The rotary rig is in the shop in Missouri, getting the last things repaired so it will be ready to work as soon as it gets into Guatemala. Seth Weilage is watching over the process. He and Jon talk frequently, I am sure. Speedy and Bucky in Ohio are going to haul the rig to either Florida or Texas for shipment to Guatemala. I am not sure which port will be used. Our ship- per will have some input into this decision. We are also looking for two other trucks. One will be a crew cab diesel for transporting folks around, and the other to carry water and pipe for the rotary rig. I will probably check on it while I am there. I will keep you posted. Many thanks to all our volunteers and donors. None of this could happen with- out them and the generosity the Good Lord has put in their hearts.
