The “Idiots” Corner by “Billy Bob Smith” Millennials Are they really the idiots the world thinks they are? You decide. Here are just a few of the opinions much of society, and yes even millennials have of themselves and their generation in general. And I didn’t make this stuff up. Google it yourself if you don’t think they could possibly be the worst idiots in our history. Keep in mind, these are not my opinions or prejudices, just what most of the world thinks. Are they right? Are millennials this bad as a group, or are the following just the opinions of a portion of the rest of us? Who knows? What I do know is that in every generation there have been and will be really bad people, idiots, great people, good people, and a lot of folks just trying to get by. And, they are in no particular order. j They are greedy. They want what they can’t necessarily afford (whether they deserve it or not). BB - You want stuff? Sorry, you gotta work for it. j They are entitled. They feel like the world owes them everything based on the simple fact they are here. BB - The world owes you nothing. j They blame other generations or anyone they can for their issues. It’s their parent's fault they have school debt. It’s their grandparent's fault they can’t afford a home of their own. It’s their sibling's fault they can’t find the high-paying job they want, but are not qualified for. BB - Blame all you want. How’s it working for you? j They are lazy. Up at 11:00 a.m., nap in the afternoon, and into bed at 9:00 p.m., and what did they do in between? Spend most of their time on their iPhone or browsing social media. BB - Maybe you need to spend a few more hours a day sweating - and not at the gym. j They can’t handle adversity. “I don’t deserve these problems.” “This isn’t fair.” “Why me?” “Life just isn’t what I thought it would be.” BB - Me neither. Deal with it. j They have serious FOMO. Don’t know what this is? Well, do some homework and look it up. BB - Get over it, dude. j They need safe zones. Come on, really?! For the rest of us, our safe zones are cutting the grass, the car as we head to work, doing laundry, or shopping for groceries. BB - Give me a break. j They are selfish and selfie-oriented. Try taking their phone away from them for more than five minutes and watch them lose it. BB - I say take them away for good, wow! j They have poor social skills. They spend more time texting, searching, and browsing than they do talking. BB - Watch how this turns them into dumb robots in the future. j Least informed. They have no idea about what is really going on in the world and why and how it will impact them in the future if they are not careful. BB - In the end, idiots are just clueless and don’t know why they are clueless. j They don’t see the connection between their ideas and ideals and how they will impact their future. Socialism is their dream, and why? They think it will give them what they want for free - free everything. BB - I’ve been on this earth for many years and I’m still looking for my free lunch. j They are the least patriotic. They think the Constitution is out of touch. The military senseless. Police are bad people and their teachers and instructors are the brightest people in the world. BB - Go figure. j They are rude. “Thank you”, “Please”, “I’m sorry” are not only not in their vocabulary, they don’t even know what they mean. BB - Trust me, at some point in their future, they are going to want to hear a thank-you from someone, and if they don’t get it are going to have a temper tantrum. j They are really out of touch with reality. Ask them anything about what’s going on outside their safe zone and guess what? You will get some totally unrelated and stupid response. BB - I’m not saying everything you hear or see in the world and on TV is true or good, but if you don’t pay attention, you may miss out on some important information whether weather-related, health-related, or just the traffic as you head to the airport. Had enough? I have. Know some millennials who don’t fit this description? I do. Know some who f i t al l of the above? Trust me, there have been some really stupid Boomers (I may be one of them), but at least most of us fig- ured stuff out before it was too late.
