Viking Well Program Continues into 2019 Adapted from Information by Saturn Oil & Gas Inc. Saturn Oil & Gas Inc. has started its drill program for the 2019 sea- son. The program consists of ten extended reach horizontal Viking wells spread over its Milton, Kerrobert, and Prairiedale lands in Saskatchewan, Canada. Saturn currently has 16 gross producing Viking horizontal wells, and 18 additional Viking horizontal wells were drilled from fourth quarter of 2018 through the first quarter of 2019. Stuart Houle, Saturn’s vice president of Engineering & Operations stated, “We have been impressed with the initial and prolonged produc- tion results from our 2018 Viking horizontal programs. Saturn has had continued operational success that supports full field development over many of its land assets. We look forward to executing this upcoming pro- gram that should allow us to achieve our 2018 exit production rate goal.” In February, the company was drilling the fifth well in the program with the first four wells successfully drilled. Completion operations had commenced with the first two wells successfully completed and brought online. Drilling and completion oper- ations were expected to run through to March, with the intended goal of having all the wells online and producing prior to the second quarter of 2019. DIR 27 WorldWide Drilling Resource ® APRIL 2019 Drilling Commences for Kenyan Geothermal Project Adapted from Information by Geothermal Development Company According to Geothermal Development Company (GDC), drilling in the Baringo-Silali geothermal block in Kenya is going well. Johnstone Maleche, manager of drilling operations for GDC said the drilling team has reached a depth of about 250 feet and casing has been set. The company Hong Kong Off-Shore Oil Services Limited has been contracted to drill a total of 15-20 wells for the project. The Baringo-Silali block cuts through the Bogoria, Baringo, Arus, Korosi, Chepchuk, Paka, and Silali prospects. Earlier this year, Eng. Johnson P. Ole Nchoe, managing director & CEO of the company, and the GDC team witnessed the spudding of the Kifaru II rig at the Paka prospect area. Last year during a visit to the area, the Energy Chief Administrative Secretary Honorable Simon Kachapin said develop- ment of the Baringo-Silali Geothermal Project will have a huge impact in transforming the region into an economic hub. He lauded the progress of the project saying investors will be flocking to the region once drilling operations and later power generation starts. In addition to lowering the cost of energy in Kenya, the project could also lead to geothermal energy being used for greenhouse heating, drying grains, pasteurizing milk, as well as for cooling and heating buildings. “This is a huge project not only in this area, but also in the country. We shall have industrial parks here that will utilize the direct uses of geothermal energy. This wi l l greatly change the economy of the region which now only depends on livestock,” Kachapin stated. Currently, exploration dri l l ing is being conducted in the area which is expected to produce around 3000 megawatts of geothermal power. GEO Congratulations to: Rusty Turner R. J .
