He left us peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones after a brave fight against an aggressive cancer. Dave grew up in Powell River, British Columbia, Canada. His passion for flying was evident from a very early age, getting his pilot’s license and purchasing his first plane at 17. After high school, he obtained his commercial pilot's license and began flying commercially as soon as he reached the legal age of 19. For many people, the sky’s the limit. For Dave, it was his childhood dream which came true when he flew all over the world for several different airlines, including Air Canada. He moved several times in his life, finding home at a farm in the Comox Valley. He loved his farm, initially raising beef cattle, and each year growing and selling hay. The pasture also served as an airplane landing strip! During a leave fromAir Canada, Dave became a car salesman and quickly discovered an unexpected talent for sales. After leaving Air Canada, he became a partner in Atlas Manufacturing, which he helped to grow into a thriving business, selling products around the world. Dave had a strong faith and was active in his Catholic Church. He is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years Claire; daughter Melissa; sons Graham and Reid; father Tom (Inge-Lore); brother Andy; and a large extended family. He packed a lot of living and loving into his 50 years on earth, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A Christian mass celebrating his live was held at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Chapel in Comox, November 4, 2019. The management and staff of WWDR extend their condolences to Dave’s family, friends, and colleagues. Lest we forget... The WWDR camera caught up with Dave and Claire at the 2018 Pacific Northwest Ground Water Exposition in Portland, Oregon.
