In Memoriam Robert Bruce “Bob” Mortell (1935~2019) With great sadness, Eastern Driller Manufacturing Company (EDM) informed of the pass- ing of Robert Bruce “Bob” Mortell, 83, of Charlottesville, Virginia, and St. Petersburg, Florida, on January 4, 2019. He was born to the late Thomas and Ida Bayer Mortell, on October 30, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York. He was a graduate of the University of Virginia, where he played basketball, and still holds the rebound record for the Cavaliers. He was the founder and owner of EDM, whose business plan was to build top-quality products at competitive prices. Bob enjoyed working with and helping his employees whenever he could. He was a good friend to all who had the privilege to know him, and will be sorely missed. Bob is survived by his wife Caroline; stepchildren Deborah Walter and Brian York; cousin Victor Baum; niece and nephew Margaret Griesing and Bennett Mortell. Joseph Evans “Joe” Newton (1955~2018) Joseph Evans “Joe” Newton, 63, passed away December 28, 2018. He was born in the little town of Paduka, Kentucky. He lived a young life in Florida that most would dream of - serving as a medic on MacDill Air Force Base during the Vietnam War, and working as an engineer at the Kennedy Space Center with his father. He spent his later years as a construction superintendent at Handex Consulting & Remediation in Tampa. He developed such a respect for the company and the environment, he always made sure to instill good en- vironmental behaviors in those around him. Colleagues say he was a class act in the environmental industry, always focusing on the safety of his team and the quality of what they produced. He enjoyed fishing, taking photos, listening to classic hits, and spending time with family. Joe is survived by his wife Cheryl; children David, Dan, Sarah, and Philip; and his mother Dottie. John Patrick Crosby (1968~2019) John Patrick Crosby of Lake Wales, Florida, passed away January 13, 2019. Although born in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, he was a lifelong resident of Lake Wales. He was a senior transmission oversight spe- cialist for Duke Energy and a member of the Namesake Apostolic Church. John enjoyed spending time with family, driving his Jeep, fishing, and watching football and NASCAR. John is survived by his wife of 18 years, Debbie; sons Samuel “Clay” and Eli; father Griffin “Junior” (Vickie); mother Darla (Richard); grandmother Margaret; and brother Griffin “Nick”. The management and staff of WWDR send their condolences to family, friends, and former colleagues of these gentlemen. Lest we forget... each with funding from the Government of Kenya and KfW. In 2013, detailed surface studies were completed; an Envi ronmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) License was also obtained. The community has also given GDC land access rights. The Government of Kenya is fund- ing the construction of access roads and community engagement initiatives while KfW has given GDC a conces- sional loan for the dri l l ing of 15-20 geothermal wells and installing a water pipeline to supply water for drilling.
