Exceeding Expectations Across the UK Adapted from Information by Meehan Drilling Meehan Drilling specializes in the provision of drilling and ground engineering services to clients in the public, commercial, domestic, and agricultural sectors throughout the UK. Established in 1972, the company offers a wide range of high-quality water development, gas and oil drilling, trenchless installations, and renewable energy services. Having invested in state-of-the-art machinery, the company has a substantial and impres- sive fleet of rigs, plant, vehicles, and specialized equipment. The company has been drilling water wells for over 37 years. With experience, local knowledge, work ethic, and attention to detail, they have become a driving force in the industry. They have carried out a range of water well projects, in- cluding some with geothermal applications. In one project, Meehan Drilling was sub- contracted to drill two large-diameter open-loop geothermal wells. Using the Foremost DR-24 they dual rotary drilled over 50 feet of 20-inch casing, and installed and cemented over 80 feet of 16-inch steel casing. They also drilled open hole at around 15 inches, to a depth of over 320 feet. Meehan Drilling has also been setting conductor casings for gas and oil wells throughout the UK with their dual rotary drilling rig. With the addition of a new Schramm TXD drilling rig, they now have the capability to drill up to 10,000 feet. The company was chosen to carry out deep coring work at IGas's site near Warrington. By utilizing the TXD drilling unit, they cored to a depth of over 5500 feet to take samples of the coal and shale rock seams. They also have extensive experience in the trenchless market. With a fleet of directional drilling rigs, they can install all types of services under roads, railways, urban areas, runways, and in any situation where trenchless drilling is the best option. In one project, the company completed the in- stallation of nearly 500 feet of pipe. The crew did encounter some problems due to unstable ground f o rma t i on , so they had to t rai l dr i l l pipe to main- tain hole integrity. The project consisted of drilling under a very busy building supplier’s yard and a live railway track. Due to the high volume of traffic in the yard, safety was of the upmost impor- tance. The job was completed seven days ahead of schedule, and more important ly, wi th a prist ine safety record.
