WorldWide Drilling Resource
35 WorldWide Drilling Resource ® AUGUST 2013 Water/Gas Exploration by Harold White Tuajuana and I went to the Rocky Mountain Energy Exposition in Gillette, Wyoming. We drove from Eugene, Oregon, and made a lot of stops on the way. We went to Lakeview, Oregon, to visit our daughter Sonda and family. Then we traveled into Nevada where we saw a lot of wild donkeys. We went through Salt Lake City, Utah, over the Wasatch Mountains, and into Wyoming. We stopped at Fort Bridger (my usual stop in Wyoming), then on to Rawlins. Then we headed north through an old oil field I have been wanting to see called Teapot, on our way to Gillette. Tuajuana and I had a good time meeting the attendees and people run- ning the exhibits at the Energy Expo. It is always nice to visit the WWDR booth. This time, Ed Moranski was there. Good job, Ed. Out in the equipment area, a small excavator was on display. They were having anyone who wanted to use it, to pick a volleyball off a cone and put it in a bucket. There were six placed in a circle around the excavator. This was fun. From the Expo, we went north to Lavina, Montana. On the way, we stopped at the usual sites, including Custer’s Last Stand, a sad point in history. Other places were a lot more peaceful and scenic. In Lavina, we met Alex who is known for his ability to locate water and tell how deep it is, how much it will pump, and how much it will cost before he drills. He drilled a well when we were there; and it was like he said. Good job, Alex and company. It was nice spend- ing time with you all. Back in Wyoming, we went through Jackson Hole and Alpine, and on into Idaho along the Snake River to the Caribou Mountain Range. We were driv- ing along the mountainside above the Palisades Reservoir at night, when a moose jumped out in the road and lost its footing. For a second, I thought we were going to drive right under it, then it jumped again and went off the road. It was scary, and all of the thoughts of hitting that big bull and going off the cliff happened in a mental flash as I watched it falter and recover. It was close.
