33 WorldWide Drilling Resource ® MAY 2013 OTC Announces Spotlight on New Technology Recipients Adapted from Information by The Society of Petroleum Engineers The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), which takes place May 6-9, in Houston, Texas, announced 15 technolo- gies will receive the 2013 Spotlight on New Technology Award . This award re- cognizes innovative new products which provide significant impact for offshore exploration and production (E&P) activi- ties. OTC exhibitor awards showcase the latest and most advanced hardware and software technologies leading the industry into the future. Spotlight Award Committee Chair Helge Hove Haldorsen explains, “Our Spotlight Award winners ask, ‘What if?’ and ‘Why not?’ It is thanks to them that offshore E&P will continue to play a key role in supplying the world with affordable energy in a sustainable manner.” Winning technologies were select- ed based on the following five criteria: $ New - less than two years old. $ Innovative - original, groundbreak- ing, and capable of revolutionizing the offshore E&P industry. $ Proven - through full-scale appli- cation or successful prototype testing. $ Broad Interest - broad appeal for the industry. $ Significant Impact - provides sig- nificant benefits beyond existing tech- nologies.
