13 WorldWide Drilling Resource ® SEPTEMBER 2013 Drill More with Rockmore Adapted from Information by Rockmore International, Inc. Rockmore International, Inc. was formed in 1948 as Throwaway Bit Corp. in Portland, Oregon. The company’s roots were in the underground mining indus- try with the initial products focused on drill bits for hand-held drilling such as tapered cross bits in various configura- tions. The company continued to grow, and by 1992 they introduced their DTH bit product line. Providing the finest products at competitive prices spurred additional growth into different drilling markets. In 1996, ThrowAway Bit Corp. be- came Rockmore International, Inc. This change was a direct reflection of the com- pany’s expansion into the worldwide mar- ket. The acquisition of the manufacturing company Rocbo, in Austria in 1997, gave the company access to new products and markets in 40 countries throughout Europe and Africa. By 2005, the company was exporting to 75 countries providing rock drilling tools for the mining, construction, quarrying, tunneling, and water well industries. The addition of the DTH hammer product line using the patented SonicFlow technology in 2006, increased product offering tremendously. A full range of DTH and top hammer tools was introduced in 2007. A new manufacturing faci l ity in Austria opened in 2012, adding more production capacity and increasing pro- duction efficiencies with modern manu- facturing systems. The company also unveiled its new DTH hammer, the ROK 500DH for deep hole applications, in 2012. Earlier this year, the ROK A series DTH hammer was released. This new generation of DTH hammers, for 5- and 6-inch class, consumes less compressed air and exhibits fast penetration rates, leading to fuel savings and increased drilling productivity. Rockmore exports to countries around the world via independent, local distributors offering products and services to the percussion drilling industry for sur- face and underground hard rock drilling. Their innovative drilling solutions reduce drilling operating costs for both top ham- mer and DTH drilling systems. The company will continue its quest to be the leading premium global brand for rock drilling tools by adhering to its commitment of quality, service, and inno- vation. Situated on a 5.2-acre site in Judenburg, Austria, the new plant is 81,000 square feet!
