WorldWide Drilling Resource
64 SEPTEMBER 2013 WorldWide Drilling Resource ® Jubilee 2013 in a Nutshell by: Veronica I. “Ronnie” Jones Managing Publisher It sometimes amazes me, well most times amazes me, how different people view things. For instance, I may see an event as a really great one, and you on the other hand may see it as mediocre, while yet another sees that same event as fantastic. So, I thought before the photo- graphs taken at this year’s Jubilee in Virginia Beach by the WWDR Team are printed in WorldWide Drilling Resource ® , I would give my opinion on this event. Before the opening ceremonies, the WWDR Team was busy stuffing those red bags with Pinpointer maps and visiting with other exhibitors as they were setting up. The feeling in the empty exhibit area was dismal - with many saying things like, “it won’t be good” and “can’t wait to get back to Myrtle Beach”. The WWDR Team, on the other hand, tries to always look on the bright side of things and tries to cheer people up with their Solid Gold Smiles ! This was a difficult thing to do this year. Then the official opening began, and unknown to many, there was going to be a ribbon cutting ceremony! The fine folks at Partners in Association Management pictured here, got the sponsors as well as the Board of Directors of the Jubilee together for the photo opp. I, for one was shocked! That was a very nice thing to do, and a special way to let everyone know how much sponsorship is appreciated. When the doors opened and peo- The Official Opening ~ complete with ribbon cutting! ple came in, some, as well as me, were hoping against all odds that more would show up to join us. As reflected in an email after the Jubilee, the total number of attendees was 334. So I guess those exhibitors were pretty much on cue. Sad as it may be, it’s a fact. One can’t blame everything on location, or management, or sponsors, or exhibitors, or Board Members, or even the contractors. We could blame the economy...but everyone is blaming everything on the economy. Why don’t we take a closer look at some of the photos the WWDR Team captured, and maybe you can tell me and those read- ing this resource what you think is causing this? Well, to outline the above photo- graphs, I would say: • Children came • Outdoor demos were had • Attendees visited booths • Some pretended to be resting • Others guarded their red bags • Potential young manufacturers were there helping dads • Friends visited • And families enjoyed old times. What is the answer? What was missing? The History the HYDRO-ARC 7500 ® Adapted from Information by Fabco Power For over 50 years, Fabco Power has been a leader in portable power manufacturing. In 1965, the company decided to replace the small engines on generators and welders with a hydraulic motor. This way equipment with hydraulic fluid capabilities (wet lines) could elim- inate running two engines, thus save fuel, pollution, and maintenance. Having worked on a drill rig in his younger days, Bob Fury, president of Fabco Power, came up with a great idea. In 1990, he decided to combine the AC generator with a DC welder and created the two-for-one HYDRO-ARC 7500 ® welder-generator combination. Producing 7500 watts of AC or DC power, the HYDRO-ARC 7500 is ideal for the water well drilling industry. Drill operators can weld pipe and have AC power for lighting and pump tests. Some of the highlights of the hydraulically driven HYDRO-ARC 7500 include: • Lightweight - only 165 Lbs • Compact Size • Generator is Environmentally Clean and Nonpolluting • Complete Unit is Maintenance Free • ACCurrentOverloadProtectionDevice • Provides 120/240 volts • Optional Pressure Compensation Flow Control • Exclusive "Fury Precision Power Coupler Housing" (Patent 5,908,183) • Operates AC tools, Air Compres- sors, Lights, and More! Fabco Power Products have proven their worth in the field! Drill operators around the world appreciate the fact Fabco continues to develop new prod- ucts. The HYDRO-ARC 7500 ® features the patented Fury Precision Power Coupler to ensure perfect alignment for chatter- and vibration-free operation.
