77 WorldWide Drilling Resource ® SEPTEMBER 2013 Baker Manufacturing ~ Your Source for Water Systems Products Adapted from Information by Baker Manufacturing, LLC Baker Manufacturing Company was founded in 1873, in Evansville, Wisconsin. Not long after, they decided to build a machine shop and foundry to do repair work. In 1874, they began manufacturing windmills under the Monitor ® name. This was the start of what would become a long list of innovative products for the water industry. By 1926, they were sell- ing windmills worldwide. The company managed to develop new products and sustain the great de- p r ess i on . WorldWar II brought new challenges and oppor- tunities to the compa- ny as they were called upon to de- velop new items for the Department of Defense. In 1953, Baker developed the pitless unit that was designed to produce “Better Farming and Better Living”. Over the years, the company con- tinued to develop more products for the residential water industry and produce castings. In 1977, Baker purchased Haight Pump out of Milwaukee, and the product line was moved to the Evansville location in 1981. In 2008, Baker purchased Campbell Manufacturing which included the Monoflex environmental line and was a compliment to the Monitor Water Well Division. Baker’s Casting and Haight Pump Division received ISO 9001 certification in 2010. The water systems division is in the process of obtaining its ISO certifica- tion. The Baker Monitor Pitless Units are the first and only pitless units to receive NSF certification. Today, Baker Manufacturing, LLC includes the Baker Manufacturing Casting Division, Haight Pump Division, and the Baker Water Systems Division which includes Monitor ® , Campbel l ™ , and Monoflex ® providing one source for resi- dential, municipal, industrial, and environ- mental water systems products.
