59 WorldWide Drilling Resource ® AUGUST 2014 GEOPROBE GEOPROBE ® No Stranger to WWDR The world-renowned Geoprobe ® Team is truly worldwide. Even in a little town like Vernon, Florida, Geoprobe ® units have been seen working as preparations for the four-lane Highway 79 from Interstate 10 at Boni fay, to Panama City Beach began. Not only has the WWDR Team been thrilled to see them there, we have seen them EVERYWHERE we travel. It’s like seeing family as we travel around the world - a friendly sight indeed. This year the Geoprobe ® family launched its fourth Open House for cus- tomers, potential customers, and friends near and far. Since 2009, people from around the world have enjoyed attending this get together - one might even call it a reunion of sorts. Sadly, due to a massive travel sched- ule in April, especially that week with five events going on, WWDR was unable to participate. With friends in high places, we got the scoop for you. Back in 2010, our reps Tiffany and Bobby attended and brought back many exciting details on the units then “on the cutting edge”. Despite extremely in- clement weather, Geoprobe ® gave their Open House everything. The attendees, as you can see in these photos, enjoyed the opportuni- ty provided. Note the pal- lets laid down by Geoprobe ® employees to help make the watching easier on the feet. Also note the ominous clouds hanging over the men demonst rat ing the machine’s capabi l i- t ies. The last shot shown here is to let you know these Geoprobes go anywhere and do most everything asked of them. If not, let the wonderful folks at Geoprobe ® know so they can make yet another wonderful addition to their great family of machines. Now, Geoprobe ® has improved their units even further. As this photo indicates, it looks like a “circling of the wagons” in the Old West, as eager attendees await the happenings for 2014! With factory tours, workshops, and demonstrations at this year’s Open House, one would have thought that was enough. But not for this company! Cus t ome r s ’ demands lead to improvements like a larger platform with more power to advance larger diameter tools to a greater depth, and thus the 8150LS sonic machine was born. It is seen here at its debut as it emerges out of a 40-foot shipping container and standing proud in front of the eager attendees. The largest, thus far, of the Geoprobe ® sonic drill line, it can continously sample and set casing in excess of 300 feet in a wide range of formations. That’s not all in the way of equipment unveilings. The Geoprobe ® 3230DT, a midsize tracked rig combing direct push functionality and traditional geotechnical auger/rotary rig capabilities, caught the eye of many! The new 8150LS sonic machine. Nathan Peters, Geoprobe ® engineer, stands at the controls of the new 3230DT rig during a demonstration. Also revealed, was the new DT60 percussion sampling system which pro- duces a 4-inch soil sample and a 6-inch cased borehole. This amazing system can also install a 2-inch monitoring well through one tool string with no cuttings! If you’ve ever had the pleasure of attending a Geoprobe ® demonstration or workshop, you know just how informative and educational they are! Like most drilling professionals, we enjoy seeing live demonstrations of new equipment and techniques, and no one does it better than the fine folks at Geoprobe ® . Wo r k s h o p s cover ing a wide range of topics were available, including Direct Image tool- ing, di rect push groundwater sam- plers, groundwater sampling, andmuch more. As many of you already know, the Geoprobe ® Service Team is always eager to help. The team was available through- out the day during the Open House, an- swering questions about maintenance and service, and making people feel welcome. It’s always nice to be able to meet your company rep face to face. If you ever get the opportunity to attend a Geoprobe ® Open House or any of their educational forums, jump at the chance! Wes McCall dis- cussed field logs during the Direct Image seminar. What a great finale! Everyone was treat- ed to homemade ice cream by Geoprobe ® engineers using a vintage John Deere ® tractor!
