The 2014 Wyo-Ben, Inc. Annual Mud School was September 8-12. We are always invigorated by the enthusiasm shown by the students who come to our annual mud school. This, our 25th year providing the weeklong drilling fluid and grout training for the small drill industry, was no different. Even if our outdoor hands-on grouting was cut short by snow and rain, everyone ended the day with a warm smile, cold fingers, and some very muddy boots. Started at the request of our distrib- utors back in 1989 to help train their employees and customers in a relaxed setting, it continues to be appreciated for the same reason. We take a small group of only 12, hire a drilling rig, and gather around the mud pit. Then to the classroom, lab, and don’t forget the food. Nobody goes home hungry! Plant and mine tours, along with a day of hands-on grouting, round things out at one of our Wyoming facilities. Then it’s one more classroom ses- sion for review, but this time after a night in lovely Cody, Wyoming. A Friday night banquet to say goodbye to all our new friends as they leave our home in Billings, Montana, strengthens the friend- ships formed during the week.
