WorldWide Drilling Resource
85 WorldWide Drilling Resource ® DECEMBER 2014 Oil/Water Exploration by Harold White This summer I enjoyed staying home in Creswell, Oregon. We were busy drill- ing water wells. We seem to get a lot of the hard places where the landowner has drilled a few dry wells, then decides this water locating I do might actually work. Even though it is against their scientific training, they are very happy when we drill a well and their place finally has water. They just don’t tell their friends how it was done. Volcanoes have been in the news. I like to study volcanoes and see how they are different from one another and why. I have studied a lot of them and for different reasons. One reason is they are potentially dangerous and every vol- cano has erupted more than once, and will probably do so again. Some have killed thousands of people. I have found ways I could take a lot of the pressure off the mountain or volcano, and proba- bly save thousands of lives. Although we have been busy drilling water wells all summer, the fall and win- ter months slows the drilling in Oregon a lot, so I will have more time to do water, hot water, gas, and oil locations. In the area I live, we have had a lot of “technicolor” summer days because of forest fires. The sun shining through the smoke causes the effect. Right now there’s a “drunk” bear out by the apple tree, so I better bring the cats and dogs in. Adapted from Information by AAA Getting benefits for your fami ly might not be as difficult as you think. Don’t let the following obstacles keep you from protecting your loved ones and yourself. ( It costs too much. Life insurance is more affordable than you might think, especially term life insurance. In some cases, coverage can cost less than $9 per month. ( My health is less than per- fect. Even if you are not in perfect health, affordable insurance is possible. Medical advances allowing you to control common health concerns such as high blood pressure could help you qualify for a better rate. ( I have too many other finan- cial obligations. Who will take care of your obliga- tions if something happens to you? Life insurance can help protect your family. Likewise, overlooking insur- ance can leave your family without benefits when they need them most. ( I don’t trust insurance com- panies. In good and bad economic times, the life insurance industry has paid death benefit claims. For example, AAA’s company - AAA Life - has been serving people for almost half a century. ( I have coverage through my employer. Will your work policy provide enough for your beneficiaries to live com- fortably in the event of your death? Also, if you change jobs or lose your job, nonworkplace life insur- ance goes along with you.
