19 WorldWide Drilling Resource ® FEBRUARY 2014 High-Rise Repairs Systems with CIPP Adapted from Information Provided by Nu Flow Las Flores Tower, a 15-story luxu- ry condominium in Coronado Island, California, is a residential high-rise with 150 units. Recently, cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) was used to renovate three of the building’s pipe systems. Late last year, a camera inspection showed part of the bottom of Las Flores Tower’s 10-inch mainline was missing. Rather than spending six figures to dig up the front lobby, driveway, and part of the street, and causing considerable disruption to residents, the condomini- um owners association opted for CIPP to repair the damaged mainline along with other aged piping systems. Located inside wal ls and under doors, the cast iron mainline, potable recirculation copper lines, and all six of the vertical cast iron storm drain stacks were 36 years old. Vertical storm drain lines were cracked and leaking into units. Copper recirculation lines are sub- ject to pinhole leaks and corrosion from chemicals in the water and velocity wear. Once the access points are dri l led, CIPP can prevent corrosion and leaks from occurring again. Corrosion was removed and the condominium’s aged, corroded, and leaking mainline, hot potable system, and storm drain stacks were lined and reinstated. The Pull-in-Place structural liner, which cures in place, allowed the main- line to be cleaned and lined all the way to the tie-in at the city main below the street. The potable system’s hot recircu- lation pipes were cleaned and coated with Nu Flow’s patented epoxy lining, greatly extending the useful life of the pipes. The potable system was accessed through existing connection points on the roof and inside the parking garage. With CIPP technology, several small and large pipe systems in the Las Flores Tower were successfully rehabilitated without inconvenience to residents. A finales del año pasado, una cámara de inspección revelo que parte de la parte posterior de la torre Las Flores le faltaban como 10 pulgadas de la línea magistral. En vez de hacer el gasto de cientos de miles de dólares para escavar el recibidor principal, entra- da para los autos, parte de la calle, y causar considerable perturbación a los residentes, la asociación de dueños del condominio opto por repararlo por medio de CIPP para arreglar la línea magis- tral dañada al igual de otra tubería dañada.
