Hydrosphere - The waters of the earth, as distinguished from the rocks (lithos- phere), living things (biosphere), and air (atmosphere). Hyperpycnal Inflow - Flowing water which is denser than the body of water it enters, resulting in the formation of a turbidity current. Hypersaline - Excessive saline; hav- ing a salinity substantially greater than normal seawater. Hypogene - Formed, crystallized, or lying at depths below the earth’s sur- face. Hypolimnion - The lowest layer of water in a lake characterized by an essentially uniform temperature. Hypopycnal Inflow - Flowing water which is less dense than the body of water it enters, e.g. a river entering the ocean. Hypothermal - Of, relating to, or being mineral deposits formed at great depths and high temperatures. I Ice Age - The latest of the glacial epochs, also known as the Pleistocene Epoch.
