18 JUNE 2014 WorldWide Drilling Resource ® Greka Drilling Wins 100-Well Contract Adapted from a Press Release from Greka Drilling Limited Greka Drilling Limited, the largest independent and specialized unconven- tional oil and gas drilling company inAsia, announced it signed a contract with Essar Oil Limited to drill 100 wells by the end of 2014. The current program is to drill a com- bination of vertical, directional, and LiFaBriC (lined faulted brittle coals) wells. This con- tinuous drilling program will be done in Essar’s Raniganj block in West Bengal, India. LiFaBriC is a variation of traditional horizontal drilling methods used for drilling in coal seam reservoirs. Using thorough pre-engineering tech- niques for each well, engineers are able to use geosteering methods to gain a greater surface area exposure to the coal seam, optimize exposure to natu- ral cleating, and penetrate permeability barriers, in addition to reducing overall time, risks, and costs associated with traditional reservoir stimulation methods. When used for oil and gas drilling, the wells can be designed to incorporate a multitude of subsurface design patterns. LiFaBriC is designed to maximize ex- posure to a gas-bearing formation, and the final intersection to a separate ver- tical offset well used as the extraction point for fluid and gas. This allows you to conduct well flushing both before and during the life of a well, without the ex- pensive and high risk practices of workover and re-entry associated with traditional horizontal dead end wells.
