10 MARCH 2014 WorldWide Drilling Resource ® Veronafiere and Industry Associations Promote Samoter Information provided by the Samoter Press Office The main associations representing construction equipment manufacturers met at Veronafiere in Verona, Italy, to outline a road map for the 29th edition of Samoter, the international triennial ex- hibition dedicated to earth-moving and site machinery. In 2014, new markets, together with the economic and environmental sus- tainability of the construction industry, are the primary focus of the 29th edition and 50th anniversary of Samoter. Veronafiere, in collaboration with the Chambers of Commerce and ICE (Ital ian Trade Commission) offices in Rome, have worked to increase the goals of buyers and professionals from Europe, the Middle East, the Americas, and Africa. Ettore Riello, president of Veronafiere said, "The 2014 edition of Samoter is even more strategic in that this year, at a time of crisis in the industry, it is the only trade show scheduled anywhere in Europe. As an exhibition center, our mission is to be a platform for business development of companies, and Samoter sees us com- mitted in this regard on two fronts: inter- national - with an active presence on most promising scenarios for the con- struction world such as East Europe, the Mediterranean basin, and the Gulf area - and, in Italy itself - characterized as ever by a very specialized machin- ery market in view of the particular land features in our country." With this year marking the 50th anniversary of the first edition of Samoter, it is an important year for innovations and initiatives in the program. Giovanni Mantovani, CEO and director general of Veronafiere explained, "We have focused on innovating the format, starting with the copresence of Asphaltica, the internation- al solutions and technology show for road paving, safety, and infrastructures, which is an ideal complementary event for the sectors covered by Samoter. “The event now has four, instead of five days to help optimize [business to business] meetings in accordance with the requests made by exhibitors." The priorities and objectives for this edition of the show involved the active collaboration of companies and associ- ations through a steering committee. "The goal was to create an exhibition event increasingly responsive to the needs of the sector," Mantovani added. "We in- volved the main industry associations in order to define the most appropriate marketing strategies for each market segment. We are confident that this part- nership will achieve important input in terms of design, planning, and exhibitor attendance." Associations of the Samoter steering committee included: 4 Aisem (Italian Association for Sensors and Microsystems) 4 Anfia (National Association of the Automobile Industry) 4 Ascomac (National Federation of Trade Machines) 4 Cantiermacchine (National Union of Importers and Distributors of Construction Machines) 4 Comamoter (Italian Earthmoving Machinery Manufacturers Association) 4 Ucomesa (Union Builders of Construction Machinery, Road, Mining, and Related Equipment) 4 Unacea (National Union of Companies, Construction Equipment, and Attachments) 4 Assodimi (Assoc. of Distributors, Charterers, Service Centers, and Training of Industrial Machinery Equipment) Samoter 2014 is also an occasion for comparison and analysis. While scientific development and promotion of the con- struction industry find their landmark in the Samoter International Award, the Samoter Innovation Competition ensures visibility for producers of machinery and technologies presenting previews of struc- tural and functional innovations in their products, encouraging creativity, design, and production of original and cutting-edge products and services.
