This new addition to Rockmore’s broad range of high-performance DTH hammers is a breakthrough for DTH drilling technology. The ROK 250 model is considered the first 2-inch class DTH hammer ever developed to operate under high air pressure levels - up to 350 psi and beyond. With a 2.6-inch wear sleeve diam- eter, the ROK 250 is designed to drill 3- to 3.5-inch-diameter holes at high penetra- tion rates. "We recognized a niche market seg- ment in the DTH drilling sector that could utilize higher air pressure input levels to improve hammer penetration rates and drilling performance for hole requirements as small as 3 inches," said Mr. Pejman Eghdami, executive vice president of Rockmore International. Traditional 2-inch DTH hammers capable of drilling 3-inch holes are not de- signed to endure high operating air pres- sures and are often limited to 145 psi. The low energy values at those pressure levels cause poor hammer performance and low penetration rates. This not only increas- es the overall drilling costs, but ultimately it affects hole diameter selection. "Our design team faced the arduous challenge of developing a compact 2- inch class DTH hammer to withstand the technical demands of utilizing higher in- put air pressure to produce exceptional hammer performance levels similar to larger high-pressure rated models," stat- ed Eghdami. The ROK 250 provides excellent performance in DTH applications for smaller diameter blastholes and con- struction projects demanding high drilling efficiencies and faster drilling rates by utilizing larger compressors. Performance of the new ROK 250 is enhanced with the company’s patented SonicFlow technology, which optimizes airflow in the hammer by streamlining the air paths to minimize back flow and tur- bulence. This results in maximum energy to the piston which is transferred to the bit and rock formation. Rockmore International has been serving the world’s mining, construction, and water well rock drilling tool needs for more than 60 years. Focus on SEDC The 49 th Annual Shallow Exploration Drillers Clinic (SEDC) will take place April 8-10, at the Scheman Building at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. Exhibitor set up and registration is set for Tuesday, with the vendor presentation scheduled 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The clinic will start Wednesday morn- ing at 8:00 a.m. and will run until 5:00 p.m. The evening winds down with a social gathering from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. where you can network with fellow drilling professionals.
