by the river, that it’s a sure place to get water. A lot of dry wells have been drilled by the river. The river carries a lot of sediments and clay that seal the leaks so the water can’t get out. I located an underground creek and followed it across an old dry creek bed and on across a property. We decided to drill on the creek bank and let the water run down the creek. We drilled and hit the creek about 150 feet down, and the water came up flowing over the casing, and this ancient creek came to life again - this time from a different source. We could have let it run, maybe forever, but the state rules say we can- not do that, so we stopped flow to the pretty little creek we brought to life. They said we were depleting the underground water reservoir. They may think it is a scientific fact, and I think an underground creek is flowing to the ocean. This is just part of the natural water cycle, and Oil/Water Exploration by Harold White The reason for writing this is to let people know, just because you are drilling next to a river (which we are, in fact a very well-known river, the Willamette for which the Willamette Valley in Oregon is named) does not mean you will get any water in the spot you pick to drill, or if you do get a lot of water, it is related to the river. It is probably not related at all. Underground creeks can come from different water sheds and flow a long, long way to the ocean; and just because it flows toward the ocean, and just be- cause it flows under a creek or river, does not mean it adds to or takes away from the river. Still, people say to drill 62 NOVEMBER 2014 WorldWide Drilling Resource ® 0,2+ 675;,4 -57 5;,7 ',(78 /558, -753 +0--,7,49 35+,28 95 -09 >5:7 4,,+8 "(4.04. -753 36 95 36 4*2:+,8 %,/0*2, :36 #9(7904. Then the water cycle starts over again. My idea is, let the freshwater flow whenev- er you can give life for the plants and animals. It will all be in the ocean soon enough.
