In Memory of Ralph Aldes Cadwallader 5-15-1950 ~ 7-11-2014 Veronica I. “Ronnie” Jones Managing Publisher Ralph Cadwallader was a true “Texas Gentleman” to be honored and respected for his many contributions during his short lifetime. As I received the notice of Ralph’s passing from Leroy, Executive Director of the Texas Ground Water Association (TGWA), I quickly thought back to the first time I really remember Ralph. It stands out to me because he was so very proud during that year’s (2012) association conference. One reason was; during the auction pictured here, Alli, his granddaughter was bidding, and I quickly snapped this photo- graph of them as he was fondly look- ing upon her as she bid for the S t a r of Texas. Yes, he was “fronting” the money for her, which went to the scholar- ship fund, and that made it all the more special to me. Second because, during that same conference, Jason Cadwallader, Ralph’s son took the reigns of the TGWA, as its President, and you can readily see, Ralph was there proudly watching. And then that great family photograph was taken as a remembrance of that wonderful night. On July 26th, 2014, the following was record- ed in the official record Always the Texan... books of the Texas Ground Water Association: Be it resolved that this recognition of his splendid career, his sterling qual- ities, and his dedicated service to his State and Nation by the Texas Ground Water Association be recorded in the proceedings of this meeting of the Board of Directors of the Association; that his wife, Sandy; daughter, Karen West and husband, Ryan; son, Jason Cadwallader and wife Shelby; sisters, Martha Heithkamp and husband Dr. Jeff Heithkamp and Gloria Williams and husband, Mel Williams; brother, David Cadwallader; grandchildren, Alli Paige Cadwallader, Caleb Cadwallader, JK Cadwallader, Cade West, Ryland West, Addi James West, and Layne West, be extended the deepest sympa- thy of the Association, and that copies of this memorial be extended to his family. ADOPTED IN SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, THIS 26th DAY OF JULY, 2014. TEXASGROUNDWATERASSOCIATION He left a distinguished career of dedicated service in groundwater, pub- lic service, and leadership; served on the Board of Directors of the Texas Ground Water Association and served as its President 1996-1997. He was recognized with the presentation of the “Honorary Life Membership Award” in January 2014. He owned and operated Hol ly Water Well and Loop Tech Int’l. Not only in ground- water, but Ralph was a pioneer in Texas for the closed-loop geothermal systems, as well. Yes, Mr. Ralph Cadwallader will always be remembered as a man of great vision, boundless energy, great strength of char- acter, and an abiding sense of humor. But most impor- tantly, he was first and foremost a devoted f ami l y man , who shared his life with his wife Sandy and his children and grand- children . Lest we forget.
