New Trade Association to Promote GHPs NY-GEO (the New York Geothermal Energy Organization) has been formed, with 67 founding members, as a non- profit corporation to raise visibility and understanding of geothermal heat pump (GHP) technology across New York State. “Our intent is to play an active role in quality assurance for the industry while raising the profile of GHPs among consumers through fresh, new market- ing efforts,” said NY-GEO President John Franceschina. The association’s goals are to: 0 Provide its members with mar- keting tools to better convey the benefits of GHPs to potential cus- tomers, policy makers, and the pub- lic; 0 Develop standards and quality control that will advance the repu- tation of this revolutionary technology; and 0 Advocate for enlightened policy and legislation that support the wide- spread adoption of GHPs in New York State as an integral part of the state’s transition to clean energy. “I can’t think of a better place to be than my new role as NY-GEO executive director,” said Bill Nowak, former direc- tor of policy research with the New York Senate Environmental Conservation Committee. He looks forward to leading day-to-day operations and working with association members on a number of legislative and regulatory issues to ex- pand the GHPmarket in New York State.
