33 WorldWide Drilling Resource ® SEPTEMBER 2014 New International Training Facility Unveiled Adapted from Information by Control Chemical Corporation Control Chemical (1989) Corp (MATEx), is inviting drilling industry per- sonnel to its new international training facility located at their manufacturing plant in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Control Chemical’s basic philosophy is to promote proper use of its MATEx products in the field to ensure maximum core recovery, improve production, and extend tool life, which leads to reduced overall drilling costs and increased profits. The state-of-the-art classroom is designed to accommodate up to 40 par- ticipants per session. It also includes two 60-inch TVs and one 110-inch projection TV. A large whiteboard can be utilized to draw erasable diagrams enhancing dis- cussions and allowing the presenter to emphasize a point of interest with the projected image as a background. Two miniature glass mixing systems provide invaluable insight as to what is happening in the mix tank. The ability to observe the mixing action within the tank greatly helps in reducing product waste due to poor agitation or improper intro- duction of products into the tank. This provides a unique hands-on opportunity for participants to work with the products in the mixing stage. They are also taught how to use measuring devices and how they relate to performance crite- ria. Each person is provided with course material to take with them for future ref- erence. Participation by attendees is encouraged so ideas and experiences can be shared. The extensive use of both animated and actual field result videos further demonstrate and improve understanding of how MATEx products work to maxi- mize the benefits of a proper drilling fluid system. Control Chemical’s Team is experi- enced in the diamond drilling and air drilling industries, which are the main focuses of the sessions. This applies to exploration, construction, mining produc- tion blasthole, geothermal drilling, and more. Private corporate training courses can be designed to accommodate a com- pany’s needs or special projects. As a reflection of the international market MATEx products cover, previous sessions have hosted participants world- wide fromAustralia, Chile, Peru, Mongolia, South Africa, Turkey, Philippines, France, Norway, Colombia, and the USA to name a few.
