35 WorldWide Drilling Resource ® SEPTEMBER 2014 Water/Gas Exploration by Harold White If you know something for sure that everyone else has been taught cannot be done, won’t work, doesn’t work, can- not work, and like the scientists say, has no reason to work, do not be demanding you know better, it will just make you sound less educated. Give them some time to learn why you may be right, or are right. Like in my case, over 50 years has not been enough. I have to teach a little bit almost every time I go out to do an underground fluid location, which means underground creek location for the fluid I am looking for. So, the company or person who has called for this service may know a little about what I am about to do. When I explain what I do to a scientist, geolo- gist, etcetera, they generally say, “Well, that sounds scientifically sound. okay, let’s do the job.” The problem I have is when I have a job and the company or person talks to some friend who may be a geologist and they say they have no way of find- ing underground creeks or rivers of any kind, why would any farm kid know more than the scholars or scientists - it spoils the job or prevents it in the first place. If I could talk science to the company representatives at one meeting, I could get a lot better reaction in these cases. Science has studied water locations for hundreds of years, some colleges say more. Some say to study one more would just add to the thousands already studied. So (smiling) I asked this friend, ”Well, how many do you have to study to get it right?” He said he didn’t know, and smiled. We dropped the subject. Some of the geologists or scientists who study the different fluids are educated enough and are easy to talk to. They actually under- stand some of the science I use. Then it is a pleasure to talk to them and we enjoy the learning experience. I have been finding underground creeks and rivers of water, oil, and gas for a lot of years, and I am finding enough intelligent people to work for to keep up my hopes and expectations that there are a lot more out there.
