Superior Dri l l ing Products, Inc. (SDPI), a provider of drilling products for the oil, natural gas, and mining services industries, has been awarded a second patent addressing the design, process, benefits, and applications of the Drill-N- Ream™ wellbore conditioning tool. The Drill-N-Ream tool is a dual-sec- tion reaming tool located behind the bot- tom hole assembly of the drill string to smooth and slightly enlarge the wellbore in the curved and horizontal sections of horizontal wells, in both oil- and water- based mud. It is available in multiple sizes and can be custom manufactured to fit any hole size. The tool is structured to rotate while sliding smoothly behind the drill bit in a circular manner when not turning and is situated on the drill string assembly. Its innovative design effec- tively conditions wellbore surfaces, re- moving ledges and reducing torque and drag. Troy Meier, founder and CEO of SDPI said, “We believe that the Drill-N- Ream has significant opportunity in the horizontal drilling arena. As we advance, our strategy is to continually develop new technologies that solve complex drilling problems and manufacture products for the drill string assembly that increase effi- ciency and safety, while ultimately improv- ing production and reducing costs for our customers.” SDPI also manufactures, repairs, sells, and rents drilling tools, in addition to manufacturing and refurbishing PDC (polycrystalline diamond compact) drill bits for leading oilfield services compa- nies. With their state-of-the-art machining facility, the company is able to manufac- ture custom products and solutions for the drilling industry.
