Bit Brokers International introduced its line of PDC (polycrystalline diamond compact) bits to their line-up of products in 2009. These bits are designed for high- speed drilling in shale, limestone, clay, and sandstone formations. Starting with a basic design, the company’s research and development team, along with Cliff Thomas and Kenny Karnes, were able to produce a high- quality PDC bit line at great prices. Unlike roller cones, these PDC bits are a one-piece matrix and/or steel body with no moving parts. The fixed cutters shave away the rock, making it possible to operate with higher rotation speeds more efficiently in consolidated forma- tions. Over the past six years, the line has evolved through field testing, as well as additional research and development. Taking the feedback from their customers about what works best and what needs to be improved has helped the compa- ny’s PDC line become one of the best in the industry.
