I was at the UPS office when the person in front of me started screaming: “It has to get there tomorrow!” Problem was, this was the day before Christmas. The clerk finally told her to give it to Santa Claus. She didn’t laugh, but everyone else in line did. Christmas presents: It’s always nice to give practical things people can really use. So in discussing what others may need, you can find out what a par- ticular person needs or wants. But then, after you’ve purchased and wrapped the gift, that person goes out and buys the exact same thing for themselves the week before Christmas! Come on folks! Regifting is always a smart holiday tactic, right? Well, maybe yes and maybe no. This Christmas, I got a gift from a good friend - a book. As I started to read it, I noticed highlighting in several chap- ters. Come on...I get the regifting ap- proach, I have done it multiple times, but an old book with proof it wasn’t really new? Who knows, maybe someone gave it to you (regifted) and you wanted to save money on my gift! Hey dude, take me off your gift list for next year. Ever been in a restaurant listening to a customer complain rudely about the food quality or service? I have. Last week, this guy kept telling the server rather abruptly and rudely that his steak was too rare, and what was she going to do about it? She said, “Sir, I am sorry. We can put it back on the grill and cook it some more for you.” His answer: “Ma’am, how do I know you will give me the same one back just cooked more?” I love it. She said, “Sir, what differ- ence does it make which one you get as long as it is cooked to your liking?” And she walked away from the table. To make a long story short, for the next 20 minutes, all he did was whine about the service. I gotta tell you, if I had been his server, I would have suggested he leave and try a different restaurant. Gotta get this one off my chest - When are politicians going to start doing stuff they get paid for? And it isn’t about showing up. All they do is sit around spending their time coming up with rules, laws, and regulations they are immune to, and just screw up life for the rest of us. I have an idea. For their term in office, they can only vote for laws which include them and their relatives, employ- ees, or friends. Know what? Nothing would get passed. And finally, as we continue this new year, how about your horoscope? Every sign (yes all of them) will: get a year older, have some financial challenges, forget where you put your keys, get e-mail spam you didn’t sign up for, and lose something important to you. Have a happy, successful, peaceful and contented 2015 - yeah right.
