WorldWide Drilling Resource

40 MARCH 2015 WorldWide Drilling Resource ® Oil/Water Exploration by Harold White January, the weather was a little colder than usual with icy cold from Florida, north across the states, and up to Canada. It is a lot of land in which I am sure there are a lot of people and other living things that would appreci- ate some global warming. I had planned on going to the south area - Florida, Georgia, Alabama - to do some work and research, but the weather has set us back some. Oil and gas is the target, and I have no doubt we will find more than what is expected. While I am there, I would like to do oil, gas, freshwater, and saltwater, ratio file, and also see if there are hot water creeks. There are hot water springs and resorts across the states, but what I am looking for is hot water in the un- known places at shallow enough depth, and boiling hot or better like 300ºF (148ºC) to use for homes, big green- houses, factories, or resorts. Resorts like Hunters’ Hotsprings Resort in Lakeview, Oregon, owned by Jim Gullickson. The hot water heats the main building, recreation room, swimming pool, and outbuildings. There are a cou- ple of big water areas drawing in a lot of unusual migratory birds. Canadian geese and different types of ducks raise their chicks there. It is a nice place to re- lax, lay back, and enjoy the wildlife. There is also a geyser called Old Perpetual which has an interesting story of its own; and if you find Jim interesting to talk to as I do, you will enjoy your stay. Hot water radiant heat causes a very comforting feeling. I heard an eld- erly person say, “This reminds me of my mother.” I guess he meant a secure, relaxing, happy feeling. Natural gas may not have the same feeling, but it can heat water and do the same thing. Gas heat is also very cheap if you have your own shallow well on your property. I know a guy who has a gas well about 200 feet deep which heats his place and runs stationary equip- ment like generators, etc. It can also be put in pressure tanks to run mobile equip- ment. He says he is very happy he has no heat, electric, or gas bill on his farm. There are places all over the coun- try where wells could be drilled for pri- vate use, and natural gas is the most probable. That is what I find. I know of a lot of gas wells which are just capped off; for no apparent reason, the farmer is not using them. Maybe they do not know the value of personal or private use. I would like for everyone to have a shallow gas well and be like the farmer who knows how to use it.
