Recently, we were at the following conferences: Utah Ground Water, Oklahoma Ground Water, Minnesota Water Well, UCT (Underground Construction Technology), ISEE (International Society of Explosives Engineers), Mountain States Ground Water, Texas Ground Water, Virginia Water Well, and Southwest Mississippi Drilling Seminar. We don’t miss many! As we traveled to these conferences, one topic came up quite often. “No one wants to work!” I’m certain you feel the same way. What do you think is the lack of work ethic today? Why do those sup- posedly “seeking employment” think they should get the same salary as you who worked hard for many, many years to make “your” company what it is today? It makes me laugh - sad but true. I just have to laugh, quietly of course to myself. Wouldn’t want to upset the ... what do they call the generation? Certainly not “baby boomers”. I remember growing up with one new dress, and I was so proud of it, I wore it to school every day for a week! Needless to say, after that week, when my classmates and those on the bus started staring at me, I decided I should only wear it once a week. LOL But you know, as well as I do, we appreciated having that hand-me-down outfit, coat, books, and imagining what those on the shows on radio looked like. (No TV then -- or we just couldn’t afford it for some time to come.) Maybe we are in fact the ones who have ruined this XYZ or whatever generation? I’m not sure what happened. I just know we better figure out how to help them “get it right”. This industry needs and wants young people to take our places. A man called me and told me: “Ronnie, I spoke with a company and all they wanted was a ‘drug-free’ person who would make it to work on time, be able to understand instructions, and WORK. If that company could find that person within two years he/she would probably be the president.” What do you think? Proudly Made in the United States of America - delivered WorldWide !
