Breathe in steam to help with congestion. Sit in the bathroom with the door closed and turn on the hot shower, now you have an improvised steam room. 3. Ask for an antiviral. The flu is viral not bacterial, so antibiotics will not work. Antivirals work best when you get them within 48 hours of your first symptoms.
