Education Connection Oil/Water Exploration by Harold White I met a group of people who were discussing water wells. One of them was talking about water witching and dowsing, and about how they did the location, how deep, how much water - any question you wanted to ask they seemed to have the answer. I have drilled wells in a lot of places where the dowser’s well location was drilled and the well was totally dry even though other wells near- by were pumping large amounts of water. The geologist’s statement was, “There is no scientific reason for water witching, dowsing, or water finding to work, there- fore it does not work.” At that point, I would like to have said something like, “That is a ridiculous statement, or an ignorant one. You are an older man, you have been out of college for quite some time, you should have outgrown statements like that a long time ago. You can ask yourself the question about anything: ‘For what scientific reason does anything exist?’, and you can chase that back to where it may be the answer. It is like: ‘What came first, the chicken or the egg, and why?’” A reasonable statement frommy point of view may be: There has been a lot of research done by colleges around the world which have been studying the his- tory of water witching back thousands of years through the ages and still don’t know if, or how it works, so there is a prob- ability it does not work. But if they come again to this conclusion, I would say to the scientists, “Don’t you ever learn, or do you just keep teaching the same stuff?” The water witchers know they are getting a reaction to water or something, and they probably don’t know how or what. However, they are on the right track.
