An Informative Day at the Vermont Ground Water Association Annual Meeting by Ed Moranski, Chief Marketing Officer, WorldWide Drilling Resource ® It was a pleasure to attend the Vermont Ground Water Association (VGWA) Annual Meeting on March 1st, at the Capitol Plaza Hotel & Conference Center in the city of Montpelier. Blue skies and an abundance of sunshine welcomed attendees to the meeting. Exhibitors were on hand to show their products and answer any questions the members had while enjoying the Suppliers Breakfast. VGWA President Ken White kicked off the meeting with opening remarks, then kept the program moving along all day. Bob Lancaster of Numa Tool Company was the first speaker of the day, enlightening the audience about drilling hammers and proper maintenance. Nice job, Bob! The Vermont Natural Resources Atlas was presented by Erik Engstrom. He explained how to access the online program and provided useful tips. Kevin Osborn of Water-Right, Inc. presented the opportunities and challenges of the evolving water filtration and conditioning in the marketplace. If you have not already viewed the documentary on Netflix “The Devil We Know,” you should. Sille Larsen from the Vermont Department of Health discussed water testing, regulations, mapping, and the collecting of samples ~ a challenging task, especially for drilling contractors in the outlying areas of the state. Dan Whipple of VOSHA (Vermont’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration) discussed the risks, regulations, and safe practices regarding entering confined spaces. The Drinking Water and Groundwater Protection Division of Vermont’s Department of Environmental Conservation was represented by Ernie Christianson, Scott Stewart, and Rodney Pingree. They tag teamed the regulatory requirements and forthcoming rules and regulations affecting our industry. It was nice to catch up with some of the drilling contractors and company representatives who we see at many of the expos and shows we attend.
